preschool

This is the preschool sitting outside of the school on the porch. I cannot remember exactly what we were doing out here, but wanted to send the picture y'all's way. Notice how well they are all behaving!!

kate and regina

A great couple if I ever saw one, Kate and Regina!! Regina is a super energetic preschooler who has great camera posing skill and a killer smile. She has also won the heart of Kate. Sometimes she curls her upper lip so you can see her gums when she smiles, as pictured by both of them in this video. Enjoy!

last day

Here is a clip from the last week of school. We projected movies onto one of the walls in the classroom. The kids enjoyed watching Shrek and Aladdin. Here you can see Estiven, one of the preschool students walking into the classroom while Nurse Laura (who was here for the month of May) heals little kids. :)

carolina as buckwheat

This might be the funniest thing I have seen in the DR in a while. I was looking at Carolina one day and realized how much her braids reminded me of Buckwheat from the Little Rascals. I told her to say "OOOOOOOKAY!" and swing her arm out to the side. Isn't she so cute?

Jennie had her baby! Diego Miguel was born a little over a month ago weighing in at 7 pounds, and he is precious!

campaigning

Here are a couple video clips from driving on the main highway in Puerto Plata shortly before the presidential election. There was a line of cars and other vehicles campaigning for the current President Leonel to be re-elected (which he was). Neat to see, but a pain if you are in a hurry to get anywhere!

ranchito

Here are a few pictures of the ranchito as it was being built on the school property. It is basically a concrete slab with benches that go around the perimeter and a roof made of tree brnaches. Now there is a place for the P.E. classes if it ever rains and a cool spot that is shaded, which is really nice in this summer heat.
