graduates

These are a couple pictures from Yellowstone's first 5th grade graduation. They were all so excited, and looked so adorable in their graduation outfits! As each name was called and they walked across the stage, their teachers read off encouragements and accomplishments and goals they believed could be attained.

The rest of the school was there to watch, in addition to the parents and families that came. They all loved it!

walk like a flamingo

I took a total of one good picture on the 5th grade field trip. You can see the kiddos imitating the flamingos that are behind them, pretty cute! The trip was four days and I had three girls under my wings (two of them pictured). I must say, staying in a hotel room with two 11 year olds and one 13 year old had its challenges and I was quite ready to go home by the 4th day. Overall though it was a wonderful trip and the kids really enjoyed themselves.

daughters of esther

While working at Yellowstone, I had the duty of spending time with the 4th and 5th grade girls once a week, a mentoring of sorts if you will. The group was called Daughters of Esther, a program which had started the year before.

So, the Spring semester (when I came in) included times of team building exercises dealing with trust and team unity. We also had a unit on honoring God with our bodies. They made booklets that contained verses from Psalm 139, and learned about how they are beautifully made, the P.E. coach even came in and did a class on sex education! Scary, but it went so well!! Other classes we just spent time hanging out and playing games.

Here are some group shots towards the end of the semester.

preschool rodeo

So, I finally transferred all of my pictures from my camera to my computer. It's fun waiting a while because when I see all of the pictures it makes me smile thinking back to when these events actually happened.

The next few blog posts will be catch up blogs from events that have happened this Spring.

This particular post is from when I was able to chaperon a preschool trip to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The kids absolutely loved it!

Their teacher gave them little cowboy hats and bandanas to wear, so precious!!

jury

I realized today that I was supposed to have jury duty yesterday, opps! Hopefully I won't be arrested.

charlotte

This is Charlotte, the surprise my sister Meredith brought home from college last week. She is the cutest thing, though looks can be deceiving. Our golden retriever, Dallas, hasn't quite warmed up to her yet. Over 10 years being the only dog in the house, I might think that way too. For an entertaining interaction between the two, check out this video that Meredith posted.

time flies, eat a salad

I was at the grocery store a few weeks ago, and bought a pre-made salad to take to work. There was a sticker on the container that said, "May is National Salad Month, Eat a Salad!" I laughed, thinking, who has ever heard of a national salad month?! But, in efforts to be healthy, and though we are now in June, go eat a salad for the month of May.

national run day

I found out that today is National Run Day, so get out and go for a run and celebrate these fun, random holidays!
