houston is hot

Yes, the temperature continues to rise, but weather is not what I am talking about here. Today was a good day in Houston. Both the Astros and the Rockets played on Mother's Day.

It started off with the Houston Astros and their pink bats. They took Game 3 of a home series, sweeping the San Diego Padres. It was an afternoon of firsts: Oswalt's first win of the season, the most runs scored (12), most hits (16), and most double plays turned (4) in one game. And though we probably could have scored some inexpensive tickets assuming that the rest of Houston was watching the Rockets, I was content watching it on the couch with the family. Here are the highlights.

Likewise, the Rockets pulled off something incredible. Just as the Astros were without Lance Berkman, the Rockets faced LA without Yao Ming, who is out for the remainder of the playoffs with a broken foot. However, this kept neither team from coming up big.

The Rockets never trailed once during the game and at the half lead by nearing 30 points! With all the hype that the Lakers and Kobe Bryant receive, it was pretty invigorating to see them pounded by Houston. Go team! For more details, check this out.

So excited to be back in the states to see all of these things unfold!!
